Michel Brutti is a registered portfolio manager and is focused on building and servicing institutional client relationships in Canada and the U.S., as well as to help promote several of the firm’s other initiatives, including governance and PRI. He joined the research team in November 1994 and managed the firm's International Equity portfolios for 21 years. Michel was named Partner in 1998 and served as a member of the Investment Strategy Committee from 1999 to 2018. He is aslo a member of the firm’s Sustainable Investment Committee, which supports the Management Committee and the Investment Strategy Committee in the implementation of the firm’s Sustainable Investment Policy, through the development and sharing of research tools, sustainability solutions, ESG transparency and systems-level collaborations.
Before joining Jarislowsky Fraser, Michel worked for Global Strategy Financial, a pioneering Canadian company affiliated with N.M. Rothschild, dedicated to international equity and bond funds. Prior to entering the industry, Michel, a native of France, worked as a computer engineer for Nortel Networks and Elf Aquitaine (now Total).
Michel is involved with the Loran Scholars Foundation (mentor, students selection). He is a board member and sits on the Audit Committee of the Fonds d’action québecois pour le développement durable (FAQDD). He is on the Advisory Board, and on the Committee of Governmental Policies of the PRI Québec network, as well on the Committee of Responsible Investment at Finance Montreal. Michel has been a member of the Board of Directors of CFA Montreal Association and a member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Advocacy Council. He is also a member of the Investment Committee of Makivik Corp., and sits on the Investment Committee of the accelerator Ecofuel.
