Bernard Gauthier co-manages the firm’s Canadian Equity strategies. Bernard joined the firm’s Montreal office in September 2008 as the North American financial services analyst and became a Partner in 2010. In 2012, he became co-manager of U.S. Equity strategies and was appointed to the Investment Strategy Committee. In 2014, he began managing the firm’s Canadian Equity strategies.
Prior to joining Jarislowsky Fraser, Bernard was a member of the core Canadian equity team at CIBC Asset Management and portfolio manager of the CIBC Financial Companies Fund. This was after spending nearly four years at Phillips, Hager & North in Vancouver, where he was a partner and a member of the international team, responsible for global financials. Previously, Bernard was a highly-ranked sell-side analyst at TD Securities covering financials. He started his career at La Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec as an economist and eventually transitioned to the Canadian equity group, where he was an analyst for two years and a sector portfolio manager for four years.
Bernard is a board member of the Fondation Vincent-d’Indy, a not-for-profit supporting the École de musique Vincent-d’Indy.
