Introducing JF Fossil Fuel Free Funds

Jarislowsky Fraser and University of British Columbia team up on ‘UBC Sustainable Future Pool’

Jarislowsky Fraser and the University of British Columbia are pleased to announce their collaboration on the new UBC Sustainable Future Pool, which will invest in select Jarislowsky Fraser Fossil Fuel Free Funds, to offer a new choice for donors.

“In line with Jarislowsky Fraser’s fundamental approach to sustainable investing and ESG integration, the JF Fossil Fuel Free Funds further respond to the needs of both institutional and individual investors.” stated Pierre Lapointe, President of Jarislowsky Fraser.   “We are excited that UBC has partnered with Jarislowsky Fraser in this new initiative to offer a differentiated solution to its donors.”

Andrew Simpson, UBC’s Vice-President, Finance, said: “This is all about providing choice for our donors. We now have one endowment with two pools – the Main Endowment Pool and the Sustainable Future Pool, which has additional non-financial investment criteria that specifically target lower carbon emissions. We are pleased to collaborate with Jarislowsky Fraser and leverage its expertise and capabilities with regards to sustainable investing.”

Building on Jarislowsky Fraser’s broad range of sustainable investment strategies, JF Fossil Fuel Free Funds are a family of private pooled funds that include JF Fossil Fuel Free Canadian Equity Fund, JF Fossil Fuel Free Global Equity Fund and JF Fossil Fuel Free Bond Fund. The UBC Sustainable Future Pool will invest in the global equity and bond markets to provide a diversified global solution that will exclude the energy sector, with the exception of certain renewable energy entities, as well as non-energy sector companies that own significant fossil fuel reserves.
